Teaching our children the Easter story is one of the most important things we can do. This blog has Easter verses for kids and the Easter story broken down to make it easy to understand. The story of Jesus, the son of God resurrection on the third day is corner store of eternal life. Easter Sunday can be a busy morning with baskets and eggs. That is all fun but it is important as parents we take the time to teach our children the hope that the story of Easter holds.

Break it down.
A easy way to teach children is to really break down the holy week into bite size amounts. Doing simple activity pages or memory verses is a great way to remember our Savior this Easter season. But teaching our children that this is history, a real life event that happen really drives home the significance of Easter to our children. Before we get into the resurrection bible verses lets break down the basics of what happened that week.
Here is a simple break down of the Holy week to help teach younger children.
Easter week break down
Saturday: A special holiday called “Passover” was only six days away. People would gather in Jerusalem to offer sacrifices in the temple.
Sunday: The week starts with Palm Sunday. Jesus rides from Bethany to Jerusalem on a donkey. People who recognized Him and loved him were shouting “Hosana” and laying palm leaves on the ground so dust wouldn’t get on the Savior.
Monday: Jesus Saw people selling things at the temple and made them leave. Some leading priests saw this and were angry with Him.
Tuesday: Jesus taught people in the temple and in a place nearby called the “Mount of Olives”. The priests started planning how to kill Jesus and on of Jesus’s apostles, Judas Iscariot turned Jesus over to them for 30 sliver coins.
Wednesday: The bible doesn’t actually tell us exactly what Jesus did on this day. Maybe we spent it with His mother, his disciples or in prayer.

The last supper
Thursday- “Last Supper”. During the meal Jesus tells his disciples that one of them will betray him. Then he gave them all the sacrament to help them always remember Him. After Jesus went to the garden of Gethsemane, he prayed and suffered for all our sadness and sins. His friends fell asleep. After that officers came to arrest him. His disciples all ran away in fear.
Friday: Jesus was charged with death. Jesus had a crown of thorns placed on his head. He was harshly beaten. Jesus carried his cross to die on. Jesus Christ was crucified.
Saturday: In the tomb was Jesus’ body. There was a large stone was at the entrance of the tomb. The chief priests had guards placed there so no one could go in.
Sunday: “Resurrection Sunday”. Mary Magdalene saw the stone was rolled away. She saw the empty tomb. An angel of the lord came and told her He was not there, he had risen! The linen cloth was unwrapped. The large stone rolled away. Jesus lives and because he lives again, so can we.
